About Us
The prime mission of the Bellingham Sailing Foundation (BSF) is to promote sailing as a recreation and sport for young people in Whatcom County.
In order to benefit the health and well-being of the public, the specific purposes of the Foundation are:
1. To educate, promote, and encourage public knowledge, appreciation of, and involvement in, the sport of sailing;
2. To conduct local, regional, national, and international sailing competitions;
3. To promote, conduct, and direct training programs for recreational sailing;
4. To provide training and instruction in seamanship, safety, and maintenance of sail, power, and self-propelled boats;
5. To conduct activities related to recreational and competitive sailing for everyone, including individuals with disabilities, who are disadvantaged, and who are under age 18;
6. To assist in safety, rescue, and emergency services in conjunction with sailing, and
7. To own, lease, and operate boats and safety equipment related to the above purposes.
